Inter-Country Adoptions

We represent clients in Inter-country adoptions.  This is the process of adopting a child from abroad and bringing them to the United States.  This is an exciting and complicated process. Having an experienced attorney is essential to getting through the process smoothly. We love being a part of the adoption process and helping families join together.

The Hague Convention on the Protection of Children and Co-operation in Respect of Intercountry Adoption

The process for adoptions varies depending on whether the adoptive child is in a country that is subject to the Hague Convention or is not subject to it.  The countries subject to the Convention are HERE.

The Hague Convention is an international agreement to establish safeguards to ensure that intercountry adoptions take place in the best interests of the child. The Convention entered into force for the United States in April 2008. The Hague regulates the way adoptions are carried out and provides certain procedural safeguards internationally instead of leaving the procedure up to individual countries.
